Thursday:
Plan on arriving at Sipapu between 5 & 9pm (earlier or later is OK). There
are no planned activities for Thursday. The evening will be dedicated to
registration, preliminary announcements, and
socialization. We have no meal planned for Thursday. However, the
restaurant at Sipau Lodge is open until 7pm, and those arriving early enough
should be able to order a meal there. Otherwise, it would be
good to consider eating dinner before arriving or bringing your own. Many
rooms have stoves and we have the use of a large kitchen for the Foray.)
Friday:
On Friday morning we will head off to some marvelous dining establishment for
Breakfast. Bob Wilson will tell us where this place is. We will begin breakfast
at 8am at a restaurant a mile or so up the road from El Mesón. As soon as
possible after breakfast (around 9am) we will regroup at El Mesón, our
lunches, form up carpools, and head of to field trip sites. (Early birds
could probably accomplish some of these tasks before breakfast.)
One of the sites we're considering is the Hopewell Lake area. If anyone wants to wait until Friday to begin the Foray and go initially to Hopewell, please let me know. So far, three people have kindly offered to be the contact person at Hopewell. However, nobody has said if they want to make Hopewell their initial meeting place for the Foray.
The rest of the Foray details we will explain on Thursday evening and Friday Morning.
El Mesón is a two-story rectangular pink building a hundred meters or so to the west of the highway coming into Chama from the south. (When you reach the Elk Horn Café, turn left). It's located at the south end of town along the section of road with all the zillions of cabin/motel resort-type places (before one gets to the "Y").
