  •  1:30 pm. Gather at Villa Fontana for the New Mexico Mycological Society's Annual Mushroom Banquet, prepared by Chef Carlo Gislimberti.

    Participants
  • Dr. Jack States teaches Biology at Northern Arizona University and is the author of Mushrooms and Truffles of the Southwest.
    Dr. Clark Ovrebo teaches Biology at the University of Central Oklahoma. He has worked extensively in the South and Southwest.
    Pam Stern is a professional artist and amateur mycologist. Under her direction even the totally untalented will learn to render a recognizable sketch. Note: You do not have to participate in both sessions, though it is highly recommended.
    Chef Carlo Gislimberti is nationally recognized in both the United States and Italy for his outstanding cuisine. His Villa Fontana has been named one of the top 5 Northern Italian restaurants in the U.S.; he is on the Culinary Institute of America's list of the 100 best chefs of the century, and was recently knighted in Italy for his contributions to spreading the word about Italian haute cuisine to America.
    Fees: Foray - $60 per person / Banquet - $45 per person
    The Foray Fee covers entrance to all Foray activities listed in the Schedule, including the field trips, programs, and workshops. The fee does not cover Housing or Food. Arrange your own housing by contacting the Taos Motel (505) 758-2524 or 800-323-6009. Tell them you are with the Mushroom Group to receive our special per night rate.
    Meals
  • Friday night icebreaker / social: a buffet of wine and cheese will be served after the talks.
  • Saturday morning The field trips will leave at 9:00 sharp from the Taos Motel. Come by the Rec Room and build a sack lunch for yourself before you leave.
  • Participants are on their own for breakfast and for dinner on Saturday and for Sunday breakfast.

    Note: While children are welcome at the Foray, they must be well-behaved. Parents of noisy, disruptive, or unsupervised children will be asked to remove them from the premises.
    Sales Items: Many books on Mushrooms & Fungi, including field guides and cookbooks will be displayed for sale. You will be able to order your copy at the Foray. The books will be mailed to you postage-free, and tax free.
